Our sharpening service is a 5 Step process:
Cleaning and Prep
All blades that arrive from the customer are put through a process to clean and prepare them for grinding. In some cases blades will come back with layers of by-products caked to the surface. Our professionals take great care to clean the blades and prepare the surface to ensure the blade will be sharpened to its original state.
Inspection
Inspecting the blades is critical. Nicks and cuts in the blades that are not visible to naked or untrained eye can cause disastrous affects to your end products. We carefully inspect all of the blades prior to sharpening and identify potential issues early in the process. If a blade is damaged or unrepairable we may be able to ship a new replacement from inventory the same day.
Grinding & Honing
“It’s all in the Grind”, it sounds simple but it’s the most important part of the process. Grinding and sharpening properly, requires expertise and deep knowledge. Improper grinding can overheat the metal and reduce its strength making it susceptible to nicks and breaks during use.
